During the T20 World Cup, the Pakistan cricket team seemed to be functioning more like a group of individuals rather than a cohesive unit, due to various reasons, one of which was the presence of a large contingent comprising players, support staff, family members including wives, children, and extended family.
Interestingly, fast bowler Mohammad Amir was in America with a personal trainer. Reports suggest that while the Pakistan team had a foreign trainer, Mohammad Amir was training separately with his personal trainer, who had been with him in Ireland and England. Mohammad Amir had obtained special permission from the PCB for this arrangement, and he bore the expenses of his trainer himself, although the arrangements were facilitated by the PCB.
Mohammad Amir had returned to the team after retirement, but he did not train with the team. This was a unique case where a player was training separately with his personal trainer despite the team having its own trainer.
Apart from Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, and Wahab Riaz also traveled with their wives and children with the team.
During the World Cup, captain Babar Azam's father, mother, brother, Imad Wasim, and Haris Rauf's families were also with the team. Parties and meals continued after matches, adding to the festive atmosphere, but Pakistan's journey ended in the early rounds of the tournament.
