In a historic victory, Afghanistan defeated Australia by 21 runs in the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Afghanistan set a target of 149 runs, and the Australian team was bowled out for 127 runs in response.

In the 48th match of the T20 World Cup, Australia won the toss and opted to field first against Afghanistan. Batting first, Afghanistan scored 148 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Afghan openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran gave their team a strong start with a partnership of 118 runs. Gurbaz scored 60 runs off 49 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 4 fours, while Zadran added 51 runs off 48 balls with 6 fours.

Kareem Janat contributed 13 runs, and Mohammad Nabi remained not out with 10 runs. Australia's Pat Cummins took 3 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs, achieving his second consecutive hat-trick in the T20 World Cup. Cummins is the first bowler in the world to achieve two consecutive hat-tricks in the T20 World Cup. Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis also chipped in with 2 and 1 wickets, respectively.

The match took place at the Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown, Saint Vincent. Both teams were playing their second match in the Super 8 stage. Previously, Afghanistan had lost to India, while Australia had secured a win against Bangladesh.
