Wasim Akram, former captain of Pakistan, has voiced his belief that Shaheen Shah Afridi, the talented left-arm pacer, is destined to reclaim leadership of the national team. Expressing concern over the frequent changes in leadership, Akram emphasized that such instability undermines consistent performance on the field.
Reflecting on the brief tenure of Afridi as captain, Akram remarked, "If Afridi was appointed captain, he deserved a longer tenure to prove himself." Despite distancing himself from Pakistani cricket amidst criticism and political turmoil, Akram commended Afridi for his aggressive playing style and knack for taking crucial wickets.
"He’s an aggressive cricketer with immense potential," Akram asserted, expressing optimism about Afridi's future prospects. While endorsing Afridi as a future captain, Akram advised him to concentrate on enhancing his game at present.
